We usually find ourselves trying to automate everything, believing that technology is that silver bullet to improve any process. That happens to be false. Sometimes, the simpler and less technological solution works better and takes less time. But there are times we do the same thing often and that costs us time. A bad managed routine costs time and time is all we are trying to buy, isn’t it?
XKCD is one of my favorite sites. They’ve come with this graph as a joke, but I find this very accurate.
So when I need to decide whether to automate a routine task or not, I use this graph:
